Is boot time of 55 secs normal?

Hi all,

When the device is off and I press the power button, it first takes 15 seconds, then three dots above the Garmin word appear.

It takes 55 seconds in total (including the 15 secs) to start up.

-> Is this normal for a 1030 Plus ?

(firmware 6.75, complete resetted the device, no sensors, no phone connection, just plain device)

I though not, so I already thried:

1) System->Reset-> both options tried.
This had no effect

2) Placed a GUPDATE.GCD of an old firmware version (4.10) in the /Garmin folder, downgraded (did not help) and upgraded again to 6.75 via Express.

This had no effect

Anything I can try?

Your boot time is not normal.

Take care you have not too many files in /Garmin/Activities and /Garmin/Courses.
Delete all files in /Garmin/NewFiles - if there are any.

Thank you for the confirmation that the device boot takes too much time.

This behavior came up since latest firmware install.

Your suggestion was the first I tried, even before resetting the device. No help.

I did already a "check disk", no errors.

Perpaps it is in the maps.

I would like to reformat and (clean) reinstall. Anyone knows how to do that?

Your link ends at the page for suggestions. That will not help. You probably meant to suggest contacting Garmin Support. I wrote them an email. But I remembered reading somewhere how to format and rebuild a device from scratch, but cannot find it. If someone does know, please contact me.

Contacted Garmin Support. They suggested to reinstall maps. After reinstalling the maps everything worked like a charm again!

Problem solved.
