Segment times

Has anyone noticed this when a live segment appears

If you are slower than your last effort the time is shown as -0.35.

I would have thought if you are slower then it should be +0.35 and if you're faster then it should be -0.35.  This is how it's stated in motor racing.

Obviously this is by design but not sure on the rationale

  • It should behave like motor racing and down hill skiing. In that it reports the delta time to that of the VP.

Could you grab a screen shot next time you see it.

  • Exactly what mine does as well, confuses the hell out of me.

  • I recall this now. This topic has come up before and the confusion is caused by the reference point that the Edge is using or perspective.

The way to look at the times is that you are always the reference and that the delta times are being report off of your time and not that of the VP time

If you past through a check point and the VP got to that point one minute ahead of your time then it will show a time  of -1:00 to the VP. In other words the VP is 1 minute under your time.

  • Thanks for the explanation but I would like to see it the other way where I'm +1:00 behind the VP or Strava follower etc and if I'm faster then show -1:00 ahead of the VP etc.

It would be good if Garmin could give us the option in a setting?
