Cannot swap eTap sensor mid-ride

I swapped from one eTap-equipped bike to another half way through my ride today. Both bikes are mine and had been previously used with this 1030+ without problem. I took the 1030+ with me to the 2nd bike, but it refused to connect to the sensor on the 2nd bike until I stopped the activity, at which point it put up a msg on the screen saying that the sensor on the 2nd bike had been detected, and did I want to swap to it.

Is there any way to continue an activity in this situation and have the Garmin connect to the 2nd sensor?

  • maybe you try following:
Disable eTap sensor of bike 2 and start activity with bike1.
After stopping course with bike 1 goto sensors and disable the eTap of bike1, enable the other eTap sensor and go on with bike2.
    (All without stopping the activity)
