Turn-by-turn directions stopped working on Edge 1030Plus, on 6.50 software.

Starting about a month ago, I'm no longer getting turn-by-turn directions on my 1030Plus.  I'm pinning routes in RideWithGPS just like I always have (they all seem to have cues loaded) but I'm not getting any pop up or prompt for the next turn and the "Time to Next" shows the time to the end of the ride, not to the next waypoint.  Anyone else experiencing this?

  • For Garmin generated Turn Guidance prompts - check Navigation>Course Options >Turn Guidance=ON.

For Course Point display check the course settings after a course is loaded, to have Course points = ON. (The option isn’t available until a course is loaded).

  • OMG!  Thank you!  I figured it was a setting, but I couldn't find it for the life of me.  I still can't find "Course Point", but Turn Guidance was indeed turned off.

  • Ok, found Course Point as well.  It was turned on.  I think the Turn Guidance is what I was looking for.  Thank you again!

  • RWGPS creates a cue entry for each turn and these become "Course Points" in the course loaded on the 1030. With Turn Guidance enabled and Course Points enabled you will likely get two notifications for each turn, can be confusing.

  • Interesting.  Course Points was enabled, but Turn Guidance wasn't.  I wasn't getting any turn by turn.  I've turned Turn Guidance on, but haven't had a chance to test it out yet.  Hopefully, I just get the one turn notification!

  • There are two different types of turn-by-turn notifications.

1- “Turn guidance” needs to enabled for the big white arrows. If you tap the text at the top of the map, you’ll see them in a list. These get calculated on the device (they have nothing to do with the RWGPS cues).

2- The cues in RWGPS are “course points”, which show up as magenta icons on the map and as pop-ups at the bottom of the screen.
