'Download Failed' message upon powering up my 1030 Plus

This started a few weeks ago.  Before that it always said 'Download Complete'.  I did a test by creating a new Strava route on my PC, and the 1030 Plus did download the test route successfully.  My rides also get uploaded properly.  So why does it say 'Download Failed'?  What information isn't getting downloaded?  The GPS satellite emeritus data file?

  • I did a Google on this issue and I think I found the solution.  It was posted on the 820 thread 4 years ago.  The problem seems to be solved.  I had a route that was 'stuck' in Garmin Connect.  After deleting it the problem is solved.  Below are the instructions that I followed.

    Most likely this is caused by something that is in your sync queue in Garmin Connect. I would recommend clearing all the items in the sync queue and try again.
    Login to Garmin Connect (Web)
    Click the Watch Icon in the top right
    Click the number next to the Edge 820
    Click the X and remove next to any items listed
