Navigation at roundabouts indicates wrong side and wrong exit

Edge 1030 Plus, 6.50 FW. In this country we drive on the left. Two problems I noticed while spending the past week riding a number of different courses around Wollongong, which has a lot of roundabouts:

1. The 1030+ frequently tries to send me around roundabouts anti-clockwise, rather than the clockwise direction required by driving on the left. The problem doesn't happen at every roundabout, but happens at a substantial proportion of them.

2. The 1030+ frequently tells me to take the wrong number exit from a roundabout. For example, at a crossrouds with a roundabout, and the course is indicating straight ahead, so 2nd exit, the 1030+ tells me to take the 3rd exit. Again, not always, but quite frequently.

The courses were all created using RideWithGPS and exported as GPX, then the GPX files placed in the newfiles folder on the 1030+. When I view the courses on RWGPS, they all go the correct way around the roundabouts.

  • I have noticed the same issue, I don't think this is down to 6.50 as this is apparent on previous firmware versions.

  • Yes, have noticed this too for some time now (of course it was perfect when I was riding in continental Europe last week). Seems that Garmin doesn't possess the ability to change their software to recognise when users are riding in a country that drives/cycles on the left. I know we are in the minority here but there are still some big names out there... UK, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, India, Japan...

  • I have exactly the same problem with Edge 530. Some roundabouts, the directions assume anti-clockwise, other roundabouts on the same course assume clockwise. The little icon showing the turn always shows the correct direction and exit number. It's just the generated text (and speech) directions that it meeses up. I make my routes with Plotaroute, and it has me riding on the left side of the road in Australia.
