Edge 1030 Plus - Free Ride Mapping with Tracking UP / Forward - How to ?

I got my 1030 Plus today, I want to just free ride with no planned route off road - this works.

But I cannot keep my position in the centre, I just ride off the screen depending what way I go.

I have set tracking up, does not make any difference.

Can anyone help on this please?

I have the latest firmware installed.

Sounds like you doesn’t start any activity? The lower right physical button…

You need not to start an activity.

It seems, your map screen is in false mode:
tap on the mapscreen - on top appears a Plus and a Minus sign, and between the both there is a Hand or a Square sign.
On the left bottom side of the screen is a Return arrow if the Square sign appears.
Tap the Return arrow to leave the pan mode of the map.
