Garbage max speed indications

Recently - like over the past couple of months, since installing the 6.40 FW on my 1030+, I have several times noticed that the built-in max speed field on the 1030+ is showing a value that is much too high. I'm only using GPS, no speed sensor on the bike. For example, after an easy 20km flat ride this morning to the meeting point for our training group, where my speed wouldn't have exceeded 35kph at any point, the max speed field was showing 66kph. And a few days ago, where I might have hit 50kph down a couple of small hills, the max speed was showing 89kph.

I can never remember seeing this large discrepancy previously on the 1030+, and I can't recall ever seeing it at all on either the 1000 or 1030 that I previously used.

  • Well this whole set Garmin Edge 1030+, Speed Sensor 2, HR was bought as a bundle on Jan 3, 2022

    1. Garmin has already replaced the Edge 1030+ with a new one (same model)

    2. I have changed the batteries in the speed sensor 2 & HR

    3. HR starts working out ok & somewhere by the middle of the ride it flatlines

At this point if I make the strap any tighter, it may wind up killing me & yes I do wet the sensors

Wife's HR & cadence sensors have never worked on her Edge 530 (bundle bough Jun 1, 2022) & I have no idea what is wrong with those, since they show up on the Edge 530

Maybe we need to superglue these to our chests before the ride Smiley

  • Just to make sure: you have connected your HR over ANT+.

  • Yup, everything is connected over ANT+

There is a bug the way the lights works with the Ion flare RT

    1. Turn on Edge 1030+ & leave it alone for around 4 minutes & eventually it will form a light network & activate the lights

    2. However, if you turn on the lights manually using the button on the light, then the edge 1030 will ignore that light, even if is connected using ant+ & simply show a ? in the sensors section

    1030+ is on 6.50

    3. Battery life will always be "critical" for the 2nd light that is detected, even if you just charged it to 100% before turning on the 1030

This is a repeatable issue & probably a software issue.  I don't have any additional widgets installed on the unit
