Feature Request: switch off virtual partner in Map screen

I have switched off - even removed - the training page for virtual partner, however still have a cursor (better visible then my own position) on my map screen. And a a random pont in time during my trip the edge shows the message: "virtual partner resumed (or ended, I am translating back from german language). From app 10 people using edge I do not know anybody using virtual partner. I don't even see any sense in this. So how can I stop this?

    This has been debated for years, but Garmin seems to be refusing. I don't get the point either. The Virtual Partner icon is larger than my own icon and regularly obscures important map elements. Why Garmin, can't we users disable this feature? What is the reason? Don't you want to or can't you? Is the Virtual Partner an idea of upper management, which is why you cling to it so desperately?
