Export ride data to a readable file format

Can anybody please help me?

How can I export recorded data to my computer in a format that can be used by, for example, Excel?

Fitfile Repairtool offers an export to Excel:

I use two methods to export .FIT files so I can read them into Cyclemeter which I use as my repository for all cycling data due to analysis and graphing capability.

1) use the usb cable to connect the 1030 to computer then find and copy file directly

2) go to the garmin connect web site, click on the specific activity/ride, use the little gear icon to access export file functions

I have not found a way to export directly from Connect app on phone.
