Edge 1030 plus Routing

Hi,

I have some questions/comments and I need help.

Well, when I'm planning a round tour, the EDGE 1030 Plus often leads me to/on the streets in mountain bike / e-mountain bike / gravel mode instead on the paved roads next to the many marked off-road routes from the Garmin system / maps. This is not the case with my Mio Cyclo 405. I would like some help from you, is it possible in Garmin to plan the tour in mountain bike or e-mountain bike or gravel mode on off-road routes rather than on paved roads? The Mio Cyclo 405 does this very well but has many other disadvantages which is why I bought a Garmin Edge 1030 Plus.

Thanks in advance,

BR

  • Are you creating routes directly on your Edge, or in Garmin Connect and then sending them to your Edge?

There are ways to turn on avoidances in each Activity Profile, but there is no such avoidance to avoid Paved roads, only one to avoid Unpaved roads.

It may be more time-consuming, but it seems like creating custom routes in Garmin Connect would be the best option for your routing needs. This would allow you to draw on a map exactly what roads you would like to be navigated down.

  • Hi,

I "create", actualy choose the option "round-trip course"  well known as "SURPRISE ME" option. This option give me a very good off-road trips by some other less expensive and lower quality product but not by Edge 1030 plus what is surprising and a bit dissapointing.

The unpaved roads option is in the menu off setted, the main roads and one more option is avoid on setted.

I know there is an option in the app and on the computer to make my own my trip, but I need an independent device on my bike. I don't want to take with me my phone an things if I drive my bike. I want to sit on my bike, choose a surprise me trip for a mountainbiking trip independent and just to ride.

I think, the most expensive gps bike computer shoul give me that oportunity.
