Wow, a lot of patience! But I can't believe the solution would be to reset the Edge time and time again until issues magically go away! Come on Garmin!!
It's been the same issue for the last few FW updates. Not sure what the cause is. I also hope Garmin is looking into this. Quite annoying.
Update: Not sure I can say with any certainty I've resolved the issue but this is what I done.

Hmmmm.... I have the Radar (RTL515) and mostly its fine BUT since 6.4 (20% rollout) I've been having problems getting my Stages L/H Ultegra 3rd Gen to connect to my Garmin Edge 1030 Plus on Ant+ . Usually it connects within seconds, but recently (two weeks)? It can take either several minutes or it fails to connect at all and I then have to go into the sensors menu and press 'connect' which can then often result in a wait of up to another minute (maybe) before the connection is made. If I then stop (say after 15 minutes) to wait for friends, the connection is then lost and I have to start again. I have a case open with Garmin.

Whilst on a ride and getting more and more frustrated with the constant drops and having to manually reconnect I decided to do a Edge 1030+ reset mid ride. A bit of a pain having to setup the unit again but had to try something. The good news for the remainder of my ride probably 50K or so no Ant+ drops. Sorted I had thought.
However, next day started out and all was good, after about 30 mins it started again, Ant+ drops just not quite as often and no auto reconnect. I put up with it yet again *sigh*
2 days ago yet again frustrated I done a reset mid ride and everything was good with no drops.
Yesterday went out expecting to be back into the drop outs, but no, the unit seemed to be back to working, fingers x'd
I hope that this may help some, shez I don't even no if it solved for me till I go back out.
On my ride today (again - only since the 20% 6.4 rollout) My Stages connected at the start of the ride but then I stopped for about 10 minutes while meeting friends. When I re started there was no connection to the Stages and I had to force it to connect through the device menu :-( . I'd fitted a new battery to it because of recent problems and that showed 2.87v . It just seems too hit and miss since the last update.
I've been reporting issues to Garmin since getting the 1030 Plus last October - not a single one has been resolved and the list just keeps growing :-( That's 8 months without a single fix!
