strava live segments not available while navigating.

Hello

i have strava premium i have enabled strava live segments in garmin connect and yet when i load a course i do not see the live segment pop-up during my ride.

i just ride without loading any course i see the screen with live segments and see how much i am behind the kom or the PR.

is there a catch. I load usually routes from strava or komoot interchangeably and then sync them to the device.

Yes, you need to build your course in Strava and then sync that with Garmin Connect and from there to your Edge, Strava will embedded your segments into the course file.

that is illogical. I plan my routes on Komoot. When I follow a route I see my marked Strava segments (green line) on the map without the segment page being displayed on the Edge 1030+. If I do not follow a route, the segment page is displayed.

Strava segments are not available when riding a course. This is an issue that has been annoying for years now and which Garmin still did not fix. Other bike computers have this functionality, except Garmin, it seems... Really a shame.

They are available when following a course, but only when using a Strava built course that is synced via the Strava/Garmin Connect integration.

yes but how does this work.

i uploaded a gpx to strava anssnyced to gc then to edge.

does it mean i have to create the route in strava an imported gpx will not embed the segments?

You need to create the course in Strava. Only FIT file format supports embedded segments. I have not tried importing a course to Strava.

I have either created the course in Strava or converted an active to a course in Strava.

Set-up the integration before creating the course. Only starred courses are sent.

earlier with the Edge 520 it also worked. With the Wahoo Bolt and Roam that also works. Before I create a route on Strava I prefer to go back to Wahoo....keep it simple is my motto here ;-)

Has anyone been able to get this to work successfully? I've tried the recommended approach discussed here but live segments still never pop up while I'm riding.

unfortunately still does not work. Would be interssant to know if the Edge 1040 also does not work?

My friend has the 1040, I can confirm it doesn't work for him either on the new unit. I'm on a 1030+ and came here looking for a solution, it's a bit naff really.
