Unable to avoid connection between the Edge 1030+ and a Smart Trainer

Hello

I train in a smart trainer, Tacx Neo OG, paired with a Samsung cel phone with the TrainerRoad.

In parallel, I use my Garmin Edge 1030+ paired with my Vector 3 pedals to display cycling dynamics simultaneously.

On the 1030+ I disable the linkage to the trainer, turn of the GPS, so it does not have any connection to the smart trainer.

I have been doing this for many years.

Lately, when I start the training drill, everything works, but after a while, the Edge shows up a message that a trainer has been found and starts to try to control the trainer, even thought the trainer has been mark as DISABLED on the sensors. The trainer speed and cadence signals have been marked as DISABLED as well.

The connection stays for a few seconds and then it breaks , but it comes back after a few seconds later and the cycle repeats ruining the training drill.

I don't understand why the Edge connects with the trainer since the pairing has been disabled.

Is there something more I need to DISABLE ?

Thanks

Elie

  • The Tacx NEO Power Sensor and Speed/Cadence Sensor connect using ANT+ can can be disable by selecting them from the Settings > Sensors screen.

The Tacx NEO Smart Trainer Sensor connects using ANT+ FE-C and (for reasons best known by Garmin) does not appear on the Settings > Sensors screen and therefore cannot be disabled in the same way other sensors can be. It can only be removed from a different screen.

To remove the ANT+ FE-C connection to the Smart Trainer Sensor go to Training > Indoor Trainer > Trainer Sensor  then tap Remove.
