Not enough space to update

I have a nearly new 1030 Plus.

I wanted to update the OS to the new beta firmware, and when I tried to copy it onto the Edge, I got a "not enough space" message

I have no maps.  I deleted all the total files.  Nearly all the folders are empty

What am I missing?

Thanks

Len

  • Are you deleting files using a Mac? If so the Mac does not actually delete them. It hides them until you empty the trash on the Mac with the Edge connected. Then it removes them.

If you are on a PC right click on the device and select properties. How much free space does it show.

  • It is a Win11 Home Surface Pro.  But its weird.  When I see the Edge in File Manager and right click, I see 16mg+ free.  Then I click on the device and an SD card opens, with less than 100kb free.

So, I move file manager to this computer, I see...

Then I click on the device and I get

Its like there is a hidden partition, or the Edge wasn't formatted correctly.

I also not that the Edge is formatted in FAT, not FAT32.  I wonder if this is it.

    Anyway, W11Home is the system.

    Thanks

    Len

  • You have an Edge 130 Plus and not an Edge 1030 Plus.

Deleting the files from the Garmin\Text folder should give you the space you need. If you are using English you can remove all the files from the text folder. If you are using another language just keep that text file.

  • So it looks like he is trying to put the new Edge 1030 plus beta on an Edge 130 plus?

  • Yup. screwed up.  Sorry for taking everyone's time
