Has anyone got strava live segments to work properly when riding a course or route ? ( I have read all historic posts )

I have done my basic research into this question and even though I have followed all the earlier tips and advice, I still cannot get my strava live segments to work while riding a course created on strava or garmin. Has a anybody dealt with this problem lately ? 

Any advice greatly appreciated

    What type of Strava account do you have. You need the paid version.

    You then need to have your Strava and Garmin accounts linked. Your Garmin account needs to be configured to use Strava segments.

    New courses created in Strava should sync with Garmin Connect. They will then sync with the unit.

    Hi and thanks so much for the reply 

    I have a full paid Strava account, Garmin and Strava linked , Garmin set to use Strava segments  and have re-synced after creating courses. Live segs  work fine anytime unless I’m riding a course then they just don’t show. As soon as I cancel the course, they pop up as usual. Any other tips or ideas ?

    This is by design that Segments won't show once a course is loaded

    Segments will work if they are embedded in the course.

    First check that the course transferred to Garmin Connect has segments. If you view the map page for the course in GC you should course point markers for the segment start and end points.

    Here is an example. There is one segment. You can see flag markers for the start and end point.

    If you see the markers then the course has embedded segments. 

    The next thing to do is then to check that the course still has them once loaded onto the Edge.

    Transfer of teh course to teh Edge must be done using either Garmin Connect Mobile or Garmin Express. Doing a manual export and import will not retain the segments.

    You can post one of your course files here and I can unpack it to see what is in it.

    That is very interesting because I created 2 simple courses on Strava on sunday that do have embedded segments that show on Garmin as yours do but the ones I have done since do not show the segments. I have not tried to ride the courses that show segments yet but the ones that do not show obviously do not load while I'm riding. 

    It won't let me upload a FIT or gpx file, how do I post so you can see ? Ive had to delete the files from here 

    The segments that show on GC do  show on my edge and when i check on Strava both show the starred segments in the list beneath the map even though the latest route shows no segments on garmin 

    If you could help me work this out I would be very grateful

    Strange you could try zipping it so that it has a different file extension or posting it on a  file sharing site such as Dropbox

    I'd really appreciate it if you would bear with me What I have noticed that is really strange is that only one route on my edge has all segments embedded. This was created on strava in the same way as others that do not have segments . I have deleted all others from the edge and am going to create a new route on strava and check to see what happens.  It seems very inconsistent and I can't see what I did differently. Let me try this and I'll try getting the file(s) to you
