Upload a course when a ride is active ?

I often ride with a group, I start at home and start my ride.

When I get there, often someone shares a route, i import it in garmin connect and upload it to the garmin 1030 plus.

But it does not appear... uploading a course while having a active ride does not seem to work (if i remember correctly this used to work on my 820.

When I stop the ride then the download appears... this is annoying because then I have two rides in stead of one... then need to stich them together.

Any workarounds for this ?

  • If someone in your group has a Garmin device then you could do a device to device route transfer

  • It is not possible to transfer courses and make them appear in Edge while the current activity has already started. You will need to stop and save. Only then can you transfer a course from Connect to Edge and then follow it.

  • There's a IQ app that solves this problem. It's named GRouteloader. There is also a Grouteloader widget too. I don't know how they differ in capabilities.

  • Thx,

    I tried that, but, make route public, share it, then type the number... and in the end it did not work.. even it would work it is less work to stich them two courses ... :-(  So if figured I buy the best/most expensive device and then you get crap like this, this is even less a joke then then the 100 courses limit

  • It looks like there might be an issue with using the number from Garmin Connect.

    Using the number works fine for RWGPS.

    Note that the app lets you download course files from your phone running a mobile app (either GExporter on Android or TinyServer on iOS).

    =========================

    I figured-out what the issue was. The IQ system is a bit picky about what it's getting back from Garmin Connect.

    This is fixed in the latest version.
