Sharp bend warnings...

What is the determining factor for a sharp bend warning?

I have regularly ridden a particular narrow lane and always get a sharp bend warning for two separate bends, both of which are less than 90 degrees. However on the same narrow lane I also encounter other bends of 90 degrees or sharper but I do not get any 'Sharp bend warning'.

Does anyone have an explaanation?

I did appreciate that but will revisit the road in question just to be sure which bends are giving the warnings; there are several bends on the 3.7Km stretch of road which I have ridden regularly in both directions.

The bends themselves don't really warrant a warning. I was just curious on what prompts an alert.

A link to the location on google map with some sort of hint about where it gave the warning and where it didn't might be enough.

I wonder if it is taking your speed into account.

And the other 'Related' threads shown in the side-panel. For the Edge Explore Garmin finally made the 'Sharp Bend warnings' optional by adding an on/off switch. Don't understand why they did not the same on the other Edge models.

That link really doesn't add any light (beyond mentioning it's an option on the Explore).

It's not a feature of the map (so, it's unsurprising that it occurred for the different maps tried).

It's also somewhat likely Garmin tweaked how it worked sometime in the past 3 years.

I wish you good luck in trying to dissect the algorithms which trigger the sharp bend warnings. In my opinion waste of time, looking at the comments - the most worthless feature ever seen on a bicycle navigation device. Specially while mountainbiking on bendy single trails the very quick followup of warnings distracts the rider from keeping the bike on track, which is dangerous. Legal responsibility issue??

You can turn them off.
