Features that don’t work properly

Just watch keynote from their development conference :D ...I don't believe that somebody from Garmin is actually testing any of their sports devices, because all these issues are easy to spot on with automated tests... I still hope that somebody will come in, will fire the whole sports&fitness department and new people will come in that know how to develop software, for example people form their aviation department.

GPS is lagging behind and too slow. I often notice I already took a corner, while the map on the screen is behind and only moves a little later. Very annoying in cities when you have lots of direction changes. It used to be almost realtime on the previous 1030.

If it was almost realtime on 1030, then it is something wrong with your 1030+ (1030 was way too slow comparing to this one). I never noticed any issues with navigation. - sensor disconnects (and sometimes it is repeating every few seconds... - not sure if caused by interference), map is not loading when zoom out, estimation to destination is completely off (definitely not based on your avg speed), climb pro/elevation graph is totally off (even on crazy slow 830 was position marker on elevation graph correct),...

Probably I will return it again as I did with 830 and 1030 just before ending of 2 years warranty. With all the money and people they have I would expect that they will be a bit more active.

Btw, HRM-Dual is not Dual :D I helped with troubleshooting for one mapping project when devs were not able to figure out why it is connected via BLE and is not sending HR. Well, it the HRM monitor in BLE mode is sooo unpredictable, so it is better just to throw it to trash bin and buy other heart rate strap supporting BLE. And as usual - zero support from Garmin.

Interesting re HRM Dual.

I have an Ant+ Only and also a Dual HRM. I use the Ant+ outdoors with the 1030 plus and the Dual HRM Bluetooth indoors  with the RGT virtual cycling app which connects the Ble through my phone faultlessly .

Are you saying that the Ble won’t work when connected to the 1030 Pkus. I’ve not tried that.

At any rate as a standalone HRM the Dual works perfectly for me and doesn’t exhibit any faults at all.

When I connected only one device to it, then it was not working, but once I connected ANT+ or another device via the second BLE channel it started transmitting HR. At least no issues with ANT+. I don't care, as I have plenty of Garmin devices and I always prefer ANT+ over BLE, but for people using it with Zwift or connecting it to a mobile phone it could be a problem. 

If anyone wants to bin theirs I'm happy to provide an SAE ;-)

Very true! I can't disagree, but the retail cost of the Edge 1030 Plus etc should surely still allow customers the expectation of it being slightly more reliable than the user comments and my own experiences would seem to suggest. :-) My Edge 1000 had very few problems. It's very sad that a device developed as a step up from the Edge 1000 has had so many faults (some minor and some less so) introduced that weren't addressed before its final release. The 1030 Plus is, after all, meant to be their flagship model and the reviews that potential customers will come across will continue to lead them to go elsewhere - as a long time Garmin devotee I find that especially sad. I have had regular telephone contact with a senior support agent and I'm working closely with them to provide as much detail from field testing as possible - I WANT Garmin to succeed - but we need to be objective and honest and share our experiences here in Garmins official Forum to enable them to appreciate the scope of user problems and feeling :-)

Does anyone know if the new beta has addressed the sensor dropouts? The release notes do not seem to state explicitly but do state "improved stability"
