post code or postal code

Those of whom residing in the UK will appreciate the value of the "post code" Annoyingly however my old Garmin GPS uses its poorer cousin the "postal code" My question is this, If I was to purchase a new Edge 1030 or 830 in the UK will it use post or postal code? If there any UK cyclists with a Garmin unit that has the post code system?

As I understand it they mean the same thing.

No,, Similar but not the same. Post code will take you to the street. Postal code only take you to the area. You have to know the name of the street, which in some cases you may not have.

I‘ve just tested to input a post code into my Edge 1030 PLUS.
Here‘s what happens:

"GU16 7HF"
chosed „England“ and „adress“
After input of „GU16“ a selection opens.
GU16 6, Surrey
GU16 7, Surrey
GU16 8, Surrey
GU16 9, Surrey
After tap to „GU16 7, Surrey“ my Edge askes for streetname and number.

So, aparently this is the postal code system.

One of the frustrations of Garmin Edge computers (all of them) is that they can't navigate to a full UK postcode
The UK has a very granular postcode system and EVERYONE navigates using it, but Edge can only use the first half of it and then asks for street and house number.

Yes, true. I could be wrong , I believe it`s not only Edge units but all the Garmin GPS.
