Long Names getting overridden by Edge 1030

Hey all

So I have the Problem, that my Garmin 1030 is overriding cources, that have similar names (but which are not identical) if they have too many characters (more than 15).

Example:

Testcourse_12345678 is a ride with 65km

Testcourse_123456789 is a ride with 150km

Testcourse_1234567890 is a ride with 90km

I load tham first into connect and rename them like above. Then I send them to my Garmin 1030. Now my garmin will load them, but starts to override each course with each other and finally I have only 1 course named "Testcourse_123456..."

The first time it showd up it had a length of 65km, the next time 150km. Then the next time I check it, the course has a length of 90km. All 3 wont show at the same time.

Is there any fix for this? I need to have such long names as I am managing all the routes for my cycling club and the routes are always named according to the town we are riding to

Thanks

  • It is a well known fact/issue that course names are truncated by the Edge devices.

The fix is to change your naming system, so that the difference is within the first 15 characters.

Note: it‘s not the file name of the GPX that counts - it is the internal name (
) that will be used by the Edge.
