Bug on elevation plot

(this is another bug -or maybe something I did not understand- I noted during a very long activity).

After starting the navigation to a location, climb pro feature correctly showed a couple of climbs of 100m each, but the elevation plot was completely wrong, showing several peaks of 300 m or more. This happened while zooming at the widest possible range.

What is the elevation plot showing? Maybe the activity I already did?

It depends on how the loaded course was created.
I assume the described course was created by a course creation program like Garmin Connect, RideWithGPS or similar. The elevation graph then is created using…

I assume the described course was created by a course creation program like Garmin Connect, RideWithGPS or similar. The elevation graph then is created using the „digital elevation model“ which is (of course) not accurate.

If you load a pre ridden course then this issue should not happen.

Hi, thank you. No, in this particular case I switched to the Edge navigation. Unfortunately I don't have a screenshot for this, because on the same ride I had several issues (you see I opened a lot of threads yesterday) so I was quite depressed when this last one occurred.

I agree with you mcinner1

The elevation graph created on Garmin Connect, is really bad. I use Strava Course synced, and it gives a better elevation graph, and climb pro works better too. But you need Strava Subscription for this.
I also tried Komoot, but the elevation plot is even more "smoother" from them. Not recommended.

I didn't try Ride with GPS yet. Or other sources.

It should be close (close enough).

Strava uses elevation from people's recorded rides (when it can).

Otherwise, the sites (including Strava when there are no recorded rides) appear to use the same elevation data set (derived from SRTM).
