Using group tracking overseas

I’m from USA but will be bicycle touring in Europe and would like to use the group tracking with my husband.  I plan to get an international SIM card and wonder how fast of data I need and how much if we will be doing an average of 50. Ike’s every day for a month?

  • Hi,

Nice plan, hope you will be enjoying yourselves!

Sorry to say, but I am completely unaware of the data-usage of Livetrack.

But, I have some information for you. I just checked my iPhone and see that Garmin Connect has used 1,5 Gb of Mobile Data (not wifi) in the last 31 days. I have Livetrack enable all the time and I have ridden some 40 hours in that period.

I have used Garmin Connect a bit more than just for Livetrack, my Garmin Watch is also connected and I do not know how often information is synced and what data that is using.

In Europe it is most safe to buy a prepaid sim-card. Best would be to buy in the country you will spend most of the rides.

Oh, before I forget: please do not forget to disable roaming for all other apps you do not plan to use...
