EDGE 1030 Plus developments stopped ?

Hi there

If I am not mistaken it's been more than 4 months since we have had a significant update on the Edge 1030 (4.0 - not counting the 4.1 which is a bug fix). Being a Garmin customer for long this is an unusual timeframe without any update, official or beta.

Am I the only one to start to be worried about it ? I hope this does not mean a 1040 is already around the corner...

We recently released 5.00 on June 10th here and a new public beta is available here. I would agree this did not align with our normal release schedule from the past. But we are continuing to make improvements…

Don't think they will release any bike computer soon/this year.

The 1040 be coming out in July.

Get a replacement battery and fit it. It's a fairly easy job - I've done a few of them for myself and friends. You can also get replacement cases if the power button on yours has suffered the usual problem of cracking.

When I phoned them up about my Garmin 1000being non cormist, I enquired about upgrading to a new 1030 plus machine. The lady informed me that I would get a 30% upgrade discount. However if you wait till mid July you can get the new 1040. So straight from the horse's mouth. I said I will wait.

Really? I’ve never needed the latest device but having had the 1000 since it was released I’m also looking for a devise with a decent life span. All other sources say summer 21? Why do you say nothing this year?

You see that the Venu SQ that was released April 21 shows 06 24 2021 on the fcc site? So it seems that the docs for a new 1040 would not show up to september?

Garmin seem to have gone to a lot of trouble in the last couple of X30 device software releases to align for 530/830/1030+ so IF your prediction of a 1040 soon is correct then we might also expect 540 & 840 but I don't put much faith in Garmin support persons knowledge about their devices so their knowledge of device release schedules is likely to be just as good? Happy to be proven wrong but I will be waiting a year after their release before I think of upgrading
