Edge 1030 Plus, no way to pair with iOS 14.5?

Hello,

is there any issue with pairing Edge 1030 Plus with iPhone  iOS 14.5? I have tried everything possible, but Gamin Connect app never show the Edge device in popup "Select an Accessory", when in pairing mode, why is that? I have already reset Edge to factory defaults but still no progress. I'm able to pair Garmin HRM without a problem with the same iPhone. Also pairing Edge via iOS settings BT works, just pairing via Garmin Connect app doesnt.

Please help, this is really frustrating.

  • Ok, iOS 14.5 is currently a beta version of iOS - beta software is expected to not be as stable as production version. This in mind, we can expect some issues. Unfortunately, due to iOS being Apple software, Garmin is not able to change anything. I would recommend switching to a production version of iOS. If there are still issues if you revert back then please reach out!

  • Hello

I can confirm the same problem on Edge 530 and iOS 14.5 beta 2 with Garmin Connect v4.39.

Updates to iOS 14.5 beta 3 and Garmin Connect v4.40 do not solve the problem.

  • Oh thank you it's not just me.  Suffering the same issue.

  • , I understand the the issue of being a beta release. I'm assuming the others that are using it, like me, are developers and have the beta version for legitimate reasons on their phones. I would also assume that it is in Garmin's interest to do early testing of features in a beta version of the OS to fix any issues that may come up in a new version. So, although I understand the lack of support, I don't understand how you can dismiss this use case so easily. At least you should ask for our help in testing this type of scenario or even get us into your own beta testing program. That would the be easiest and fastest way to get issues like this resolved in your software.

I completely understand the frustration. I did bring this up to my team so they are aware and If I get an update or if there is anything we can do, I will keep you posted.

  • Hello! As an update, we are continuing investigate things on our end and will update the thread as we know more.

  • I can confirm the same situation like AlpineRider and  JohnTheRunner have. Edge 1030 Plus haven’t been paired with no device yet, since it’s brand new, so I can’t remove it. It is also not paired via system bluetooth. But in Connect app only blank “Select an accessory” popup shows up, while trying to pair and eventually fails with retry suggestion.

  • Every iOS Release, something breaks. It’s most likely your fault and not Apples that you start testing and releasing software compatible to an iOS release only after its Puplic Release. I have not yet seen Garmin taking advantage of Apples Beta service. You have a developer account, why don’t you use it? Try the most important parts that break every time: Pairing, notifications or the crashing Connect startup and test the hell out of it. If it is not working, you can at least inform your customers that something will break.
Maybe you could even use TestFlight to leverage Apples big beta tester pool to test your Software too. There are even more people on the puplic beta system.

  • That is something i proposed to Garmin maybe 5 years ago. They don’t seem to be using Apples beta service (neither the betas of iOS, nor TestFlight)

  • , any updates on the resolution of this issue? It would be great to hear if there was any progress on this, or if there's a beta release that we can help test and provide you feedback. As you can see, there's plenty of people willing to do so and help Garmin developers with the resolution of this type of issues and improve the quality of your product.
