Can't import GPX from Android

Hi,

I tried to import a GPX from my phone this way, but I fail:

I open the gpx on android -> "open with" -> I choose "Garmin Connect App".

Garmin Connect App asks for some info (what kind of activity, etc), then it shows the track on a map.

Then I think I should "sync" the app with the Edge. I did, but after that I can't find my new imported track anywhere.

I searched under "courses"/"saved courses" but it's not there.

Am I doing something wrong?

Thank you

  • Garmin Connect App asks for some info (what kind of activity, etc), then it shows the track on a map.

You have to select "DONE" after the map shows. That will save the course with today's date as the name.

Then I think I should "sync" the app with the Edge. I did, but after that I can't find my new imported track anywhere.

You have to select "Send to device," then select your device on the next screen. If that doesn't work, there is possibly something wrong with the GPX file. It has to be in a specific format for Garmin to accept it. Where did the GPX file come from? If you can zip the file and attach it to your post, we can take a look at it.

Thank you so much! I was so frustrated. Yes I did select "done", but I never selected "Send to device". In the meanwhile I also found a IQ app that does the trick as well, but I prefer this method as it does not rely on external android Apps. Thank you

    A.

  • Beware of IQ app usage for navigation. Seems to hang the edge device .... There are a couple of threads on this issue now

  • Don't launch the course from the IQ app. There's a bug with that (one I reported a month ago).

Download the course (using the IQ app) and then pick the course the normal way.

  • You can also use the GExporter Android app.

This lets you use the GImporter IQ app to download gpx and fit files from your phone.

My app will also work for this (and do more stuff besides).
