Trailforks 2020.20 Update Failure

I'm not using Trailforks but I'm getting a map update prompt every time I log into Garmin Express.

When I click install, the usual installation bar starts moving and the following screen appears.

Saying "Sync Complete!" but the exact same Map Update is still shown as available with the option to install it below the green bar...

Sometimes I also get an error message that the update has failed.

Tried restarting Express and rebooting 1030 plus with the same result. Also removing the Trailforks from IQ Apps on the Garmin Express doesn't make a difference...

Anybody else having the same issue?

  • I had exactly the same problem. And have a workaround that solved it.

1-   Connect the edge to your pc/computer.

2- With windows explorer remove when exist  in the Garmin map the following IMG file(s)

gmapprom4.img this is and old trailfork file

              and/or

D7557040A.img -  this is GARMIN Trailforks 2020.10 file.

3- reboot the Edge and reconnect to PC

4- with Garmin Express, it will say there's no trailfork installed

5- reinstall with Garmin express Trailfork 2020.20

You're finished. This work around solved my problem.

  • Same Problem here on macOS with Garmin Express 7.1.0 (didn’t test with 7.2.0) . Then tried with windows and there it did work. So it looks like a bug in the map manager on macOS garmin Express

  • interesting, could very well be

  • Yes, the same problem for me too.
Hope Garmin will resolve the issue soon.
    Thanks

    • This Trailfork fix did work for me but alas I have the same problem with the various maps update, I have 2020.10 on the Garmin but it won’t update to 2020.20 for the various regions. I have a Mac.
  • The same as the first fix,

    Step 2 Remove

D6016040A.img - Garmin Cycle Map EU North East

D6017040B.img - Garmin Cycle Map EU South West

    Step 5

reinstall the new 2020.20 EU files.

  • does not work for me. now it stopped at 60.8%. is there a way do doenload and install the map manually?

  • It's all a a matter of available Space.
The watch has a lot of space but when updating it need some extra space because it download new version before remove the old one. So during installing your watch need some extra Gb free space.

Maybe delete more 'no needed' regions. For example I'm living in Europe and deleted Asia, Pacific and Africa.
Hope this will solve your problem.

And yes it's not a problem place the file in the "Garmin" directory and activate the map in the settings. Question is how to get the right file.
