Losing connection between 1030+ and SRAM AXS derailleur (distance to handle bar too far)

I can connect my Garmin Edge 1030plus (FW4.00) to my SRAM derailleur (Eagle X01 AXS) and shift levers (Force eTap AXS HRD) without any problem, when I have the Edge placed CLOSE to the derailleur. When I place the Edge an the handle bar the connection is lost. Moving the two devices closer to each other does sometimes device the signal. Sometimes I have to force a connect on the Edge or press the connect button at the derailleur. Any ideas on how to solve the issue – or at least clues on what to look for?

EDIT: The problem is the same with my "old" 1030 (nonplus)  - guess the issue is with the derallieur not transmitting strong enough. But then 1,5m is nothing for ANT+...

EDIT2: added 2 pictures - one close to the derailleur and on at the handle bar

  • Mine's always needed a gear change before it's recognised. The mech is an xx1 paired to force etap axs (also on a bokeh for reference Wink) which gives me 115cm from mech to 1030.

It does drop connection when it all goes to sleep but again, after the first shift it's all ok.

Have you checked the axs firmwares ?

  • Hi therevokid thanks form your input. - All the SRAM devices are uptodate (deraillieur , left & right shifter lever) – all updates successfully done via the AXS app. The behavior you describe (wake up) is the same with my setup - the difference with my bike is: I can only wake up or keep the connection alive for approximately 50cm (the connections gets lost at around the seat tube). As both Edge show the same behavior I have the feeliing that the problem ist the derailleur not the other devices). Shifting is 100% reliable (but this relies on another protocol).

    Will liaise with SRAM tomorrow.

  • Don’t have any connection issues with SRAM Force Etap AXS and my Edge 1030 Plus. But other issues with the groupset. Cry
