Hi, have you had any success fixing this one? I have tried everything I can and have a support call in with Garmin but so far they are slow to respond and have just asked me to reset it which has not helped.
You can remove the update file from the unit as a work around.
Delete the following file
Garmin\RemoteSW\006B310706.GCD
I am experiencing the same issue. The Update shows up on GE and when I install it, it says I am synched, however, onle GPS Version 4.5 shows up and EPO is missing. When ever I delete the Remote SW files, whenever its time to synch it adds it back and I'm back to square one. Nothing seems to work when trying to install GPS Version 4.80.
You could try deleting the GarminDevice.xml & Device.fit files from the /Garmin folder. Disconnect the edge from the computer & reboot. This will recreate the files. Then reconnect to the computer & retry the update
Hi and thanks for the reply. I have tried in the past both your suggestion and the one from aweatherall but the same issue comes back on next sync or connection to GC.
Hi, exactly the issue I have. Garmin so far have just told me to reset and reboot but obviously this is a bit more of an issue than that. I will update this post when I hear from them again.
Is there a way of making the RemoteSW folder read only so that the update file can't be wrote back to it?
One workround looks to be to turn off WiFi on the Edge, this prevents any software updates being sent to the Edge. Software updates from what I read are only available via WiFi or Garmin Express. So if we turn off WiFi no more forced updates unless you sync with GE. If you do sync with GE just delete the .GCD file from RemoteSW. As long as your Edge is connected to your smartphone and GC Mobile it will sync activities. I am going to give this a try for now.
The solution was a new Edge replaced under warranty.
