My mixed experience with integrated FTP Test and new suggested workouts

I bought Edge 1030 Plus especially because of the new suggested workout feature. The idea not to follow a fixed training plan and doing workouts indoor and outdoor was to promising. This are my experiences:

After rolling around without doing any hard training the edge detected a much lower FTP as my last test (which was 294W): 260W

After some days I decided to use the daily workouts. I manually set the FTP to 290W on the device.

All workouts in the weeks after worked well but felt much to easy then I was used to from other plattforms like Zwift and/or Trainerroad. Even when I decided to use only the uper range of power band within the workouts.

I decided to do a ftp test based on the integrated FTP test (indoors). It felt very easy and showed: 274W

After some days I repeated the test: 269W

Because I thought that the test result was lower then my expectations i did an outside test riding at my limit for 20 minutes: 298W

The same garmin device detected 298W !!!

Please garmin - have a look on that!  These suggested workouts feature is to promising as to make it worthless because of wrong ftp detection and workload.

Greetings

Oliver
