Shutdowns during rides

Hi,

I recently had my 1030 Plus replaced by Garmin for a different issue, On my first 2 rides the device has rebooted mid-ride. The first time it rebooted whilst just recording my ride and the second ride it did the same thing as I was following a course.

On both occasions, after it rebooted...it went to the Save or Discard Ride screen ....as if I had ended the ride by pressing the Start/Stop button. All my data was maintained after the reboots.

Anyone any issues like this?

PS: The software version when I received it from Garmin is 3.10

Thanks

  • I have had this same issues.  What is the fix?   Getting frustrated..

  • I already experienced this problem when I had custom maps installed. They were very heavy maps and I think that made the hardware work difficult. Now I recommend you to update your GPS to the latest version.

  • Have this issue with certain software versions.  Certainly had this with 3.10 and some other early versions, never had it over the past year, and reappeared with 6.10.  Once every 3-4 rides, good news is it auto reboots in about a minute and your ride continuous.  Never lost a ride.

  • Yes had exactly the same issue last ride using 6.26.beta. My 1030+ turned off and rebooted back to the Save or Discard Ride screen. Fortunately I then choose to press the restart record button and my data was maintained after the reboot.

  • I've had it happen with 6.26, but only when I have Livetrack running during an activity. Every time I've had Livetrack running, I get a freeze and then a reboot at some point during a ride. If I turn off Bluetooth on my phone, so that Livetrack can't start, then I don't get the freeze/reboot.

I submitted a beta problem report to Garmin with log files several weeks ago, but have received no response, not even just to say that they received the report.
