Phone connectivity.

I have been thinking about this for a long time and now finally I get around to it. Every time I ride, I press the START button but I am never really sure if my Garmin is connected to my phone (for notifications, feed of data to apps and Live Track etc).

So, I can see along the status bar there are indicators for GPS, Bluetooth, Sensors, WiFi etc, and also there is a 'splash' message that states 'phone connected' or phone disconnected', but that only appears for 5 seconds or so.

Is it at all possible to have a static/permanent icon to display this phone connectivity? I'm thinking a green handset for connected, and red for disconnected.

If I'm just being picky, please ignore me, but for a £500 device it would be great to see that kind of connection at a glance.

I thank you all in advance for getting behind this campaign!

  • Yes, you can!
There is no original Garmin data field, but with the IQ datafield HMs DIY you can display an existing telephone connection on the display - in any way you like: as graphics, colored, text - just as you like. Notification count can also be displayed. Everything is possible!

You can create a whole display or one simple datafield only - just as you like.

Here is my DIY layout. Phone is black if connected, if not - it blinks in grey color.
    Notification count is shown, too.
