New 1030 Plus Won't Charge or Turn On

I received a new Edge 1030 Plus yesterday. I began to setup the device and connected it with my phone and Garmin Connect app. I placed it on a charger overnight to fully charge the battery.

When I came to the device this morning, the screen was showing "circle with slash" over the charging icon and then the screen flashed off. This happen several times as I checked the power cable connection. I tried several other power adapters and cables thinking there might be a cable or adapter issue, without success. The unit is now completely off and not responding. I attempted a reset, by pressing and holding down the MODE and LAP/RESET for 10 seconds, while plugged into power and then attempted to power on the device, again without success.

Any thoughts and recommendations are appreciated.

To reset the 1030+ you only need to hold the on/off/sleep button on the side for 10 seconds (I don't know if this is the MODE button). The unit should not be pliugged in. When I tried this the first time I did not hold the button in long enough. It seem like more than 10 seconds so hold the button for longer than you would think to.

I did get my 1030+ to restart. I originally was not holding down the start button for long enough (although I thought it was more than 10 seconds). Once I got the device home and pushed the on/off for al long time (more than 10 seconds but less then 30 sec) the device rebooted and acted normally. Sounds like you have a different problem. I would contact Garmin and ask for a replacement device. They seem to be pretty good about giving out replacements.
