Excessive speed on XR turbo

Former Member

Hi, just bought an Elito Direto XR, which is my first turbo. When I calibrate it says the value is 6739 and completes.however when I started riding (nothing else connected) it says I am doing 100mph+
There is no additional speed sensor. When I connect to zwift the value seems to be normal.
What do I need to do differently thanks. Stewart

  • I have no Elito - I have Tacx NEO - therefore I cannot speak for that turbo. But some thoughts in general (and how I do it):

I assume you use Zwift and want to connect your Edge in addition. If so:
-do not connect your turbo as trainer FEC
-connect it as simple sensor for speed and power via ANT+

What I would do in your situation:
-delete all turbo connection on your Edge
-search and connect only speed (maybe only speed/cadence is available) for a first try - use ANT+
-do a test and check if speed delivers reasonable values
(Once your speedsensor is connected you can play with sensor - info - wheel circumference)

As far as I know you can calibrate only power with an Edge. But in connection with a turbo it is meaningless - and has nothing to do with speed.

  • Because for head units You need to set a "weird" wheel circumference with Elite trainers, must be divided with 12.1, so You must set 173 or 174 as circumference in the 1030plus (and not 2105 or similar with normal tyres)

he speed in the Zwift is irrevelant , that is calculated from power/terrain/weight and not the /rotating/ speed of your "rear wheel" which is the metal disc in the Direto. So even with good settings these 2 speed values (your speed in Zwift and the speed value on your Garmin during Zwift) are never be the same.

Calibration: You must do calibration with the MyTraining app in every 2 weeks at least with proper warmed up trainer (so not with cold one) to get accurate power readings, there is a sticker on the bottom or at the side of the Direto, there is a 4digits number also, that is the factory calibration value, the 2 numbers should match, if the difference is above 5, the belt is too loose and need to tighten with a bolt, if it is within 5, then You dont need worry
