Uploading Conflict - WiFi vs Android Connect app

If I shut-off the Galaxy Note 10 Plus phone, the Edge 1030 Plus uploads the latest ride without hesitation using WiFi.

If I disable the WiFi on the Edge 1030 Plus, leaving the "auto upload" enabled, and leave my Galaxy Note 10 Plus phone active, the Edge 1030 Plus uploads the latest ride without hesitation using Bluetooth via the Garmin Android Connect app.

Thus, it appears that there is a conflict between the WiFi and the Bluetooth network connectivity.

Since I need to have Messaging enabled due to on-call 24/7 responsibilities, I disabled the WiFi in the Edge 1030 Plus.

NOTE: My Edge 1030 Plus has the latest 3.0 firmware, Garmin Connect app 4.34 and my Galaxy Note 10 Plus is also up to date.

  • I think it was my fault as I've been selecting "shut down" rather than "sleep" when concluding my ride.

In sleep mode the Garmin Edge 1030 Plus still communicates with WiFi and retains the last location, time zone, etc.

I have been selecting sleep mode for several days now, and my ride is uploaded upon returning home.

There is certainly a "learning curve" with Garmin devices and their sophisticated software.

I'm still happy with my purchase, and I'm willing to learn more about this device.
