That's actually kind of interesting. You really want a "Ski" mode like on the watches, but for biking instead of skiing. I've never heard of it existing, but it's a good idea. Wonder if there are any Connect IQ apps that do this, since I know there are third party Connect IQ apps for skiing.

Second that proposal. A profile deliberately skipping every straightish & speed constantish climbing segments would prove valuable for gravity oriented activities.
It‘s very simple. As AXEL said: you have to pause the climbing by lift.
If you use a speedsensor and activate autopause, it all is done automatically!
