How to disable Virtual partner?

Is there no way to disable the Virtual partner? So annoying to have it showing up on the map every now and then, especially coming into turns you think its you but its the bloody VP in front. Such a useless feature I cant believe it cannot be turned off?

No fix but I strongly second this. Super annoying feature. Garmin, please tell us how to turn this off. Who came up with this idea in the first place and enabled it by default? Also, why is the location…

So annoying.. You could turn it off on the Edge 800 so why Garmin refuse to let you now is anyone's guess..

Why is it so difficult for Garmin to do basic things right

No fix but I strongly second this. Super annoying feature. Garmin, please tell us how to turn this off. Who came up with this idea in the first place and enabled it by default? Also, why is the location marker of the VP larger than the location marker of me? My location should be the focus and be represented in a large, not tiny, marker.

In Data Screens, you can turn off display of the Virtual Partner screen.

RideWithGPS says that if you save a course as a .TCX file, you'll see the VP on your navigation screen.

I do not remember ever seeing VP on my Navigation map screen (this is based on using my older 1030). I do not use .TCX files, only .GPX.

I don't think I've used Navigation since getting my 1030 Plus.

A better choice is to set average speed through the course editor to very low and it will go away :)

I strongly support this. Very annoying. I want to be able to navigate, not every trip is a race!

Does Garmin have so much disdain for its purchasers that it refuses to read its own Forum comments and make the changes that customers want? Basicially good products, but awful company.

The do their absolute minimum to keep people buying their products. They've been doing this for as long as I remember.

was driving me crazy too. But did find a way to disable on my 520. it is under the activity profiles, but then you have to go into the data fields submenu and scroll down to the bottom and that is where the option to turn virtual partner is (on/off).
