1030 plus: When charging no battery status is shown. The device looks like is turned off. Is that how is supposed to be?

When i would charge it my older garmin 810 device, the battery level would show up on the screen when the device was off. With the 1030 plus nothing is shown. The screen is off. If i turn the device on while the device is still charging it does show that there is external power source and the battery seems to charge. Is this right?

  • The battery level does show up with the power off when plugged into a pure power source (not a computer). I say this because I can't power off the 1030+ when it's in USB connected mode using the power button.

  • I just played with this.  When the devices "Goes to sleep", the screen goes blank, even when plugged in.  You can also force it to sleep while plugged in with the power button and selecting sleep.  If you actually power it down (rather than letting it go to sleep), then it will show the GARMIN logo as well as the battery level while plugged in.  It does this as well when plugged into the computer.

  • Thank you. I will try that - i didn't even know there is a separate sleep and power off mode coming from the old 810 device. I have been impressed with how quickly the 1030 plus will turn on - i guess because i have been keeping it in sleep mode :)
