Losing GPS Signal

The device continuously loses the GPS signal every 3/5 minutes. I tried to select the different satellite options (GPS, GPS + Glonass and GPS + Galileo) but continues to lose the signal for a few seconds (2-3 "). I performed a hard reset as recommended by the Garmin service but I have not solved. This problem affects the Live Strava Segments which, as soon as the signal is lost, stop instantly.

I have the same issue with mine. I’ll try this and see what happens.

I had the same issues with mine. I was told to do hard reset, did it twice, because after the first one it did it again. In the end, it was exchanged by garmin to a new unit. Then the new one arrived, it worked for a while like the first one until one day on a ride on a clear blue sky, it did it again! I almost threw it away. Made me think I should have gone to wahoo instead. I had the 810 then 820 then this. I can't believe a bike computer as expensive as this would make this kind of issues!!! I haven't tried rebooting it again. The hassle of going into  the process of troubleshooting it again and setting it up again is infuriating!

  • For anyone seeing GPS drop out, a few questions would help us determine the cause.

    • Do you have any other devices mounted near your Edge, such as a camera or light?
    • Does this happen in the same/similar locations each time?
    • What SW versions do you have installed?
    • Are you using your Edge while paired to your phone while riding?

I have a lezyne 400xl and 800xl lights under garmin mount that I use day and night lights. That’s on 2 separate occasions I lose the signal but not immediate. And in commute I use niteflux light next to it on the bars with the unit in a stem mount. The signal drop out occurs in different non-specific locations. Not sure what you mean with SW? I always try and connect my phone when I use my garmin for notifications which is a hit and miss, most of the time I need to reboot the garmin connect app to connect with the head unit.

  • The issue is happening on my Edge 1030 as well. I do have my phone connected via Bluetooth, as well as front & rear Bontrager lights and a Garmin HR strap. Software version is 11.00.

No, no, latest (yesterday), yes --paired, of course.

  • Hi Blake, my Garmin is dropping out indiscriminately at random times and distances. I am not running with an operating speed/distance magnet at present, although I did have an old style 800 edge cadence/speed sensor, but it never wanted to pick up the speed, cadence only. It is paired to my phone during riding though. I have a Lezyne light mounted on the handle bars about 150mm away from the computer mount. I have done a factory reset too, but problem keeps occurring. I have turned the Garmin off during the ride and restarted - problem seems to fix, but then it happens again? I just have it set to normal GPS mode at present. I have it on auto pause mode too. Any ideas?

    Thank you,

    Ant

  • I have a 1030 doing this and thought it was faulty so purchased a new 1030 plus and dam this one does it too.  keeps pausing as I'm riding at any speed. Very annoying ....

  • Please describe your problem more precisely...
Do you use a speed/cadence sensor using cadence only?
And speed should be read from GPS?
