Edge 1030 Plus Availability

The same day that DC Rainmaker's review came out, I contacted my Local Bike Shop to order the 1030 Plus. The LBS replied that they were told units would be available in late July, yet I'm reading that a number of people already have a 1030 Plus.

Where are you getting your units? It appears that they can be ordered on Garmin's web site, and I'm assuming they are in stock for actual delivery. Has anyone bought from their normal retail outlet?

I ordered in the Garmin webshop and received the device within 7 days from England. I live in Austria.

Thanks, mcinner1. It seems strange that distributors and retailers are getting their units slowly, while Garmin has plenty to sell. They usually don't want to be seen as "competing" against their retailers.

Bought mine from REI I just had to get the bundle version which wasn't a big deal. Sold the sensors for $100 the same day I ordered

mcinner1, I haven't had a chance to ride in Osterreich. My wife and her parents were in Kematen after WW2, and we have visited Innsbruck, Wien, and Graz. Where do you ride? Lots of mountains?

Glad to hear it! I live south of Vienna, in Mödling. A lot of forest in front of the door. Nice area for mountain biking, but no really high mountains. It's the edge of the Alps.

bloom34, thanks for the info. I've been an REI member for many years, but we haven't shopped there recently. I can get a discount at my LBS, so I think I'll wait for them to come through. I ordered the bundle, since I want to play with the speed sensor, and my HR strap is quite old. Since I have Vector pedals, I won't need the cadence sensor.
