Speed Sensor on front tire?

My Edge 25 is apparently having trouble with the distance between the device being in the stem and the speed sensor on the rear hub. If I take it off the rear hub and I get I closer to the device it immediately connects. The speed sensor is new, I have no problem with the heart rate monitor and the cadence sensor. Can I install the speed sensor on the front hub? Will this affect it's functionality?

It will work fine on the front wheel.

It will work on the front, but I think it's a problem with the Edge 20/25's software that is causing the issue. So perhaps wait for the next version to see if that improves.
