Unable to sync new magnetless cadence sensor to garmin 500

I just received my new cadence sensor and am unable to sync it to my garmin 500. Has anyone else been having these issues?

If you had a GSC10 the sensor type needs to be changed from Spd/Cadence to Cadence and Speed or Cadence only. I don't have my 500 with me but you'll find the selection in the Bike Profile menu.
