910XT and GSC-10: When sensor is on, my speed and max speed are wrong. How do I fix?

I have a Garmin 910XT and a Garmin GSC-10 Speed/Cadence Bike Sensor. The 910XT detects the sensor when I turn it on and select cycling as an activity.

When the sensor is working, my speed is off. I'm traveling at 20mph, and the 910XT display tells me that I'm riding at 14mph or so.

Also, my max speed is usually wrong when the sensor is operational on a ride. If my maz speed is 45, the display on the 910XT will tell me it's closer to 150mph.

As far as I can tell, this only happens when the cadence sensor is operational. The sensor was nudged too far away from my wheel magnet for a long time, and the computer was working fine for that time.

What can I do to fix this? Thanks!
