Experience needed: operating Shimano hydraulic brakes with one hand (physical impairment)

Hello everyone,

I am looking for experiences or advice from cyclists with a physical impairment who operate Shimano hydraulic brakes with one hand.

I ride more than 15,000 km per year on a road bike, both domestically and abroad. My bike is equipped with Shimano Ultegra R8070 hydraulic shifters.
Currently, I am using an Outbraker one-to-two (one-hand braking) system to control both brakes with one hand. Unfortunately, I have been experiencing ongoing issues such as pressure loss and the need for frequent bleeding.

I am therefore looking for:

  • alternative technical solutions or adaptations

  • a splitter or combined braking system that allows both hydraulic brakes to be operated with one hand

  • experiences from other riders or contacts with specialists who have worked on similar setups

Any advice, experiences, or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance,
Paul
