Need Help Choosing A Bike Computer!

Hi and thanks for any input! I just purchased the Garmin Forerunner 570 and a chest strap, I want to improve my distance and speed on my bike (Specialized Sirrus X 5.0- will be buying a designated road bike for spring) and will be dabbling this winter with a fat tire bike in the snow. What is a good Bike Computer for my goals, I also will mention I do not plan on buying the power meter pedal. I am debating on buying the speed and cadence sensors. I am new to taking biking seriously and currently can manage 40 miles at a speed between 15-18mph. My goal would be to maintain 20mph for 50 miles. I appreciate any suggestions!

  • Don't. Get a handlebar mount for your watch. Use that to track your rides and display whatever data you think you want.

Link your watch to Garmin Explore on your phone for navigation. If you need to see it while you ride geta quadlock mount to go over your stem. The explore app is far better than the biggest and most high end bike computer you can buy. Garmin is such a mess nobody seems to know this is a possibility. Your phone has a bigger, brighter, faster display. You can build courses, manage saved locations, find a location and navigate to it, see your track, use a bunch of different maps, download offline maps, layers, locations.

If you get a varia radar, and you should if you ride on the road, pair that to both the phone and watch.

  • Thank you for that, I am definitely going to look into doing that.....the bike computers are very pricey and it's not like I am training for a race. I really appreciate you taking the time to answer my question!
