I tried my new HRM Pro for the first time today. I connected it through the Garmin connect app and paired it with my Venu 2s. I left my watch at home to charge and wore the HRM to the gym. Midway through the session I checked my steps on the connect app. I thought they were higher than expected, but didn’t read too much into it.
When I got home I sat down with my watch on the table and my HRM still on. I checked the app repeatedly while I sat still and over the course of about 20 minutes , my steps went up by 500 (in small increments every minute or so). I put my watch on my wrist and the steps continued to climb while I sat still. I event Took off the HRM and the steps continued to climb for a minute until it disconnected. All up it counted roughly 1500 steps while I sat at the table very still for about 30 minutes.
I put it back on and it seemed to stop counting imaginary steps. I then went for a walk for exactly 100 steps (took watch back off for this) and checked on the steps after. It counted 74 of them.
Has anyone had a similar issue. Is my strap faulty or likely a once off glitch. I got the strap solely to count steps when I’m playing netball or at a fancy event and can’t wear my watch. If it’s this inaccurate, it defeats the purpose.
