I have 2 Garmin magnet-less Speed sensors, one purchased in 2020 and the other in 2022.
Outwardly the two’s are identical, and both are dual mode (ANT+ and BT).
However, when paired with Garmin Connect, the most recent is classified as Speed Sensor 2, while the less recent is classified as “Gen3 BSCM”.
In addition, Speed Sensor 2 was pushed to be updated to 4.0 (successfully completed only after several failed attempts), while Gen3 BSCM is in release 2.3 and there is no way to push it for upgrade to 4.0 .
I was not aware about 2 types of speed sensor v2 (and I think Garmin never notified about it).
Do someone know differences (if any) between “Gen3 BSCM” and “Speed Sensor 2”, and reason why the former cannot be upgraded to release 4.0?
