Garmin Edge 1030 Plus Speed Sensor 4.0 Software Load Fails

After multiple attempts I am unable to download the subject software. Is there a step by step procedure or is the software package defective? My Garmin 1030 Plus currently shows the speed sensor at software 2.4.

Historically, I’ve found Garmin software less than what is expected.

some people have experienced the same as you and if you this post they have managed to install version 4.0.

Update fails if you activate sensor by spinning wheel.

I had this with Edge 830. It would start update after ride and then "connection failed" showing 4 or 5. I solved it by going Sensors > Select Sensor > Sensor Details > About and it showed update. I selected update and VERY IMPORTANT I RODE the bike (just in a courtyard) to keep the sensor online. Still took about 5 minutes.
