CN Maps and Garmin Edge

Looking at buying a Garmin Edge so just doing some homework, is City Navigator Maps compatible with the Edge, I use CN maps for my car's garmin and Mapsource/Basecamp,

So was wondering if I need to double up on different maps

Should be compatible, but:

1. You can't use the map from your car's navigation, as it is locked to the device, and garmin won't allow you to run it on another device, so you'd have to purchaes another copy.

2. It might be not optimized for bike routing.

Anyway, a mapping-capable edge should come with cycling maps, so not sure if you need to worry about it at all.
