Rubber band mount expected lifespan?

New 530 and radar tail light owner here. Love the components, but I'm wondering about the rubber band mounts. Don't want to lose these things!

Any thoughts on what the typical life span of the rubber bands are? I'm sure it depends on temp, uv, etc. I live in Northern Calif.

From what little I have read, EPDM rubber is very durable, but will it last 2yrs? 5?

How long have these EPDM rubber bands been used by Garmin? There probably is some history/reliability on this rubber out there...

Just zip tie the mount after you rubber band it and be done with it.

Or use the handlebar mount instead then no need for rubber bands.

Yes, using either a clamp on mount or adding zip ties makes sense.
